英語の物語
最初は日本語を見ず、分からない部分だけ開いてみましょう。Hana worked at Morrow Café on Saturday morning. Three customers ordered coffee, but four name tags were waiting beside the cups. She checked the list twice.
“I have written only three names,” said the owner. The fourth tag said RIKO in blue ink. Hana had never seen that name on the morning list.
A woman at the window said, “I have already paid for Riko's coffee.” She pointed to an empty chair. No one had seen anyone sitting there, but the chair was still warm.
Hana asked the three customers if they knew Riko. One man remembered a girl with a white umbrella. Another remembered a blue light outside. The third customer remembered only a sweet smell.
The owner made a fourth cup and put it on the empty chair. After a minute, the cup was gone, but the tag remained. Hana kept it in the drawer instead of throwing it away.
At 7:13 that evening, a new line appeared under the name: “Thank you for remembering.” Hana had not written it. She locked the drawer and turned on the café lights.

現在完了は、今の結果（3枚の名札）につながる過去の行動を表せます。
have already paid
すでに支払ったI have already paid for Riko's coffee.リコのコーヒー代はもう払いました。
already は「すでに」。have の後、過去分詞の前に置くのが基本です。
empty chair
空の椅子She pointed to an empty chair.彼女は空の椅子を指しました。
empty は中身・人がいない状態。chair の前に置いて具体的に説明します。
instead of
〜の代わりに／〜せずにShe kept it instead of throwing it away.彼女は捨てずにそれを保管しました。
instead of の後ろは名詞または動名詞。選ばなかった行動との対比を作ります。

本文の一文を使って、形と使い方を整理します。現在完了で今の結果を示す
“I have written only three names,” said the owner.「名前は3つしか書いていない」と店主は言いました。have / has + 過去分詞
「書いた」という過去の行動が、今の名札の枚数に関係しています。現在完了は、過去の行動が現在の結果につながっていることを示します。
