The Library Door at Midnight

Rina helped in the school library every Friday. One evening, she found a book under a desk. After she put it back, the library lights went out.

Rina was not afraid. She used her phone light and walked between the shelves. At the end of the room, an old green door was glowing. She had seen the same color on a door near the bakery, but she could not remember when.

There was a small card on the door. It showed only three symbols: a book, a clock, and a key. Rina guessed the message: Read one page before midnight.

She opened the book in her hands and read the first page aloud. The door made a soft sound. Then it opened a little, and warm light came through.

Inside, Rina saw a tiny room full of lost bookmarks. The nearest shelf was marked 404, but that number was not on the library map. A note on the table said, “Every reader leaves a path. Please return one path tonight.”

Rina found her friend's bookmark and put it in the right book. The next morning, her friend said, “I thought I lost this forever!” Rina only smiled. A librarian wearing a glove on his left hand checked the map and said there had never been a shelf 404. When Rina looked back, the green door was an ordinary wall.
